Silk Hiker Pants

DESCRIPTION 
Drawstring elasticated track/hiker style sports pants that are made from fine silk taffeta. This design is an emulation of an 80s fitness pant, reformulated into a piece of luxury clothing that is not to be confused with a water-spray-proof garment. This garment reminds us that silk as a textile is ancient, the textiles we see co-opted by the fossil fuel industry and subsequently the sports and fast fashion industry are emulating these fine textiles whose history spans across centuries. 

TEXTILES
This textile, which is 100% silk forest green opera taffeta, is part of a collection of dead stock silks that were destined for the Paris Opera, but somehow managed to find their way to country Victoria (Allansford). They were procured by the System in 2020. The trims are French Petersham made from 50% cotton 50% viscose. These textiles have been part of an ongoing investigation into the use of silk as an aesthetic alternative to synthetic textiles for movement. Part of this collection, it's recommended that the spiritual silks are also worn with this silk spray garments. This garment pairs with the Silk Spray Jacket

SIZING & FIT
Calum and Rose both wear size Small. The waist is fitted but the cut of these pants is designed to flow over a hip as well as loosely over lanky legs. The crotch is generous but not dropped. Drawer strings at both the waist and cuffs allow for adjustments to be made with this garment.
The size ranges from XS - XXL but the garments are made to order. Should you require special fittings, please contact The System to arrange a fitting. 

MAKE INFORMATION
Hand made in The System, at the Abbotsford Convent. 

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
This garment is dry clean only. It must not be washed. There are finishes that will wash out if this garment is submerged in water which if removed will change the handle of the garment and shrink the garment by around 5%. If you wish to see garments made from this textile that have been washed please get in touch with us directly. 

The System is a Slow Fashion garment making practice. Each of these garments are currently made to order. Please consider a 3-4 week window from the time of ordering for the manufacturing process to be completed before shipping.
