Bespoke

The System's bespoke collaborative design process is rooted in the traditions of garment making, adopting classical techniques and methodologies while adhering to the use of traditional textiles such as wool and silk. The designs reinterpret the forms of archetypal clothing, subtly reshaping them to create new expressions that center the wearer and their experience.

Form and fabric take precedence, with decoration applied only when it serves a deliberate purpose. Each piece is considered for its message, crafted to communicate both the identity of the wearer and their intended narrative. "Fashion is a system that generates meaning, like language, through its combinational structure" – Roland Barthes. The System seeks to act as a translator for those who wish to express themselves but may not yet speak the language of fashion's combinational structure.

The creative process engages not only with the conscious elements of design but also draws upon the subconscious, weaving undulating layers of meaning. This layered approach creates a deep, resonant narrative for the wearer, where every garment becomes more than just clothing—it becomes an intimate expression of self.

For those drawn to garments that carry meaning beyond aesthetics, The System offers work that reflects both the individual and the craft itself.

All of our textiles are silks, wools and high quality cellulosic textiles like linens and cottons. These textiles are specifically chosen for their ability to degrade over generations, to make sure that the work produced is able to return safety to the biosphere without poisoning us or our more than human kin. Where possible the system works with dead-stock textiles and materials to minamize the production of new textiles and alleviate a system of endless growth.

Pricing for bespoke is carefully considered. Pricing is created through a quoting system that calculates the cost of all resources, the time of the creation and the energy put into design. Quotes and prices are formulated on a case-by-case basis. For some insight into price range for fully bespoke works, please see below:
