Open Practice with The System

Open Practice with The System is a 3-hour open studio space Tuesday evenings for garment making and textile sewing practitioners at Abbotsford Convent (Naarm).

Bring any projects that you're working on to work in a collaborative and equitable environment for 3 hours on a Tuesday. Work alongside other practitioners and enjoy the shared expertise. 

Domestic and industrial machinery available in the studio.

Industrial - strictly used under supervision.

• Straight sewing machines
• Overlockers
• Coverstitch (reg only)
• Keyhole buttonhole
• Chainstitch buttonhole
• Industrial Iron/press

 Practitioners: Who is this for?

• must practice making clothing for yourself or for work/label/brand
• familiarity and experience with sewing machines

The System aims to facilitate a collaborative and equitable culture within garment making. During studio time, you will have the opportunity to gain insight into new details and design skills, including sewing hacks.
